About the Logo

The logo of Ērān Tūrān Hrōm has been kindly designed by Mr. Mohammad Rasoulipour, based on a coin of Phrom Kesar.

Phrom Kesar (Bactrian ϕρoµo κησαρo) was the name of one or more kings of the region of Kabul in the eighth century. The name Phrom Kesar in Bactrian is essentially a translation of Middle Persian Hrōm Kesār, “Caesar of Rome”! The coins of this ruler, and a new inscription, demonstrate his importance to the region in the post-Sasanian/early Islamic period. In fact, Phrom Kesar might have been so important to have influenced the legend of King Gesar, a common Tibetan and wider Inner Asian folk hero who is also a significant character in Buddhism. So, the entire cultural, social, and political connections between the Mediterranean, West Asian, and Central Asia is essentialised in this name, ranging from Rome (Hrom) to Central Asia (Turan). We hope that this spirit of connection exemplifies our aim for the Ērān Tūrān Hrōm project.
